CINI QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER

April – June, 2019

FROM THE DESK OF DIRECTOR

Dear Friends of CINI,

The year 2019 started with great excitement and preparations to celebrate CINI’s 45th Foundation Day on 1st February and also to mark my exit over the next 6 months, handing over my
responsibilities to my successor. A new book recording the achievements as well as our learning how we served marginalised children and women over half a century since 1974 was released on the occasion. The book will soon be available from our website. Some of our highlights during January to March this year have been in consolidating our presence in Assam and forging stronger links with National Health Mission of Assam Government to work with adolescent girls and boys. We participated in the global conference in Bali, Indonesia, to share our experience on community based child protection mechanism being implemented in collaboration with Columbia University group in Jharkhand. CINI had the privilege of hosting the training of self help group women members preparing nutritious food at their factories all over WB, at the Nutrimix production unit of CINCOMM, in standards of hygiene and
quality control. There are many other interesting developments in our project and we welcome you to visit us to know more. Thank you for all your support and with best wishes,

Dr. Samir Chaudhuri, Director , CINI

45 years had been an incredible journey which began with a small initiative of treating children under the age of 5 suffering from the adverse effect of malnutrition in Thukurpukur areas expanded to reaching children/adolescents for ensuring their rights to Education, Protection, Health and Nutrition. Like every year we, on Friday 1st February, 2019 celebrated our Foundation Day. This had been special as  the entire CINI family had a chance to reflect not only the beginnings of the  and the significant development since its inception, but also get the change of remembering the founders, the people associated with us for many years on reaching this milestone
of 45. It is a day that is set aside to celebrate our history and revisit and reconnect with the continuing journey of CINI.
