CINI observed “World Day against Child Labour” programme on 12th June 2019 in collaboration with National Health Mission (NHM) and District Child Protection Unit at Goalpara, Assam. The programme was organized in a remote village named Chaibari, in Lakhipur block, Goalpara. The main objective of the program was to bring awareness about Child labour and the government interventions in child labour prohibition.
The CINI team started with sharing about the adolescent issues and about the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Kariyakram (RKSK) programme with an emphasis on child protection issues. To add to this, an NHM official shared about various schemes and health programme under NHM such as the distribution of weekly iron-folic acid tablets, RBSK, Menstrual hygiene scheme, etc which can be availed by the children and adolescents. He further added the consequences of early marriages and teenage pregnancy. Miss Pranati Nath, Protection Officer (Institutional Care) DCPU, Goalpara, shared about the child protection issues and highlighting the consequences of Child Labour and Child Marriage. She concluded by spreading awareness about child trafficking and where one should approach during such situations. The community members appreciated the CINI team for organizing such an awareness programme.
