‘Strengthening WIFS for Adolescents in West Bengal’ project is a joint collaboration of Child in Need Institute (CINI) and Nutrition International (NI). As a part of the project, CINI celebrated Nutrition Day in the Anganwadi Centre of Ranaghat II block, Nadia district, with out of school and in school adolescent girls on 6th July 2019. An interaction session with girls were conducted where issues related to anaemia, the importance of IFA, menstrual hygiene, disposal of sanitary napkins, etc. were discussed.
In Cooch Bihar, a short drama on WIFS and Anaemia control was performed by Kanyashree Club Girls of Cooch Behar Balika Uchho Vidyalaya, at Maharani Indira Devi Girls High School on 18th July. The team is currently focussing on various adolescent groups to sensitize adolescents and focus on generating demand for IFA.
In many areas WIFS programme has been either reinitiated or started afresh, e.g. Hooghly Municipality areas, Diamond Harbour Health District, Goalpokhar-I block of Uttar Dinajpur, Kalimpong-I of Kalimpong district, etc. and this happened throughout the quarter.
