CINI’s Response to COVID-19 Pandemic situation

With the COVID-19 (Novel Corona Virus) raging the world over as a pandemic, India, along with many other countries, is facing a unique situation of Lockdown that was imposed from 23rd March 2020 (16.00 Hours) till 31st March 2020 in the first phase and further extended till 3rd May 2020. In its struggle against the disease and to contain the outbreak of this rapidly spreading virus in India (being the second most populous country in the world, and having a high population-density of 464 per Km2), curfew on the free movement of the citizens and provisions of The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 have also been invoked.

On 23rdMarch, India shut its $2.9 trillion (£2.3tn) economy, closing its businesses and issuing strict stay-at-home orders to 1.3 billion people. Air (domestic and international), road and rail transport systems were suspended.
