Shilon started life as a rag picker, earning around 25 rupees a day. When he was 10 an uncle took him to a non residential camp in Khanaberia and from there was admitted to the nearby school.
Shilon is now supported both emotionally and financially by CINI through their Educate a Child scheme.
Admission fees, books and equipment are all paid for and social workers help support and nurture him.
“My new school bag and shoes are awesome. Going to school is pretty hard work but it’s great fun. I want to learn to be an astronaut so I can fly rockets when I grow up”.
It costs less than 350 rupees a month to help Educate a Child.
