CINI is located 17
kms south of the city centre of Kolkata and one km.
South of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) on Diamond
Harbour Road off Pailan Hat. Easily accessible by taxi
and bus, the best day for a visit is on Thursday
mornings (except public holidays) from 10.00 am to 12.00
pm. |
At the Thursday clinic over
400 women with their children visit CINI main campus for
treatment and advice and visitors are welcome. On other days
visitors are welcome by appointment.

Visit to
Thursday clinic
Individuals or groups
should arrive by 10.00 am to CINI main campus at
Daulatpur village. Visitors will be given a brief
orientation of CINI activities, shown around the clinic
for women and children, nutrition rehabilitation centre
and training activities at CCRC. The visit is expected
to last for 3 hours.

Field visit to
villages and slum areas
This may be combined
with a morning visit to the Thursday clinic in the
afternoon, provided an appointment is made in advance or
may be organised on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or
Friday (except public holidays) with prior appointment.
Overnight stay can be arranged at CINI guest house in
Daulatpur village for individuals or groups with prior
appointment and if accommodation is available, on a
minimum donation of Rs. 500/person/day (US $ 10). This
will cover food, accommodation and local transport.

Five-day
orientation to health and development for women &
children
This can be arranged
for individuals or groups with prior appointment. This
will include field visits to observe interventions
provided by CINI targeted women and children living
below poverty levels in village and slum areas of
Kolkata in the CINI Asha urban programme working with
street children and child labour. Visits to the
Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre, training activities at
CCRC, activities of Adolescent Resource Centre, CINI
International, Fund Raising Cell, presentation of
research findings of Research Division will also be
made. Groups and individuals can arrive daily to CINI
campus by 10.00 am and stay on till 16.00 pm with their
own transport. Alternatively simple shared accommodation
with food at CINI guesthouse, local transport and
administrative cost may be arranged on a minimum
donation of Rs. 500/person/day (US $10).

Placements for
students and research workers
Students, researchers
and those seeking practical, short or long-term
experience through placements in CINI projects are
welcome from India and overseas. CINI has a modest
research facility with a limited budget given by donors
against projects. A few of CINI's current partners are
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Tata
Institute of Social Sciences, UNICEF, DFID, Population
Council, Macarthur Foundation, London School of Hygiene
and Tropical Medicine etc.
Such placements will
have to be self funded to cover accommodation on campus,
food, local travel, costs of fieldwork including the
cost of interpreters (Bengali), research assistance if
required and administrative costs. Individuals may apply
to the Director giving details of their assignments with
clearly stated outputs mentioning academic support from
parent universities/institutes in a brief letter of
intent. Each case will be examined on its own merit and
research. Priority will be given to those cases, which
will be mutually beneficial.

day with prior notice to the AAMSC
