1975 - 1977

 
Clinic started for children under 5 at Balananda Hospital, Behala, and St. Vincent School, Thakurpukur, by Dr. S.N. Chaudhuri, Sister Pauline Prince, IBVM, and Rev. Fr. Hendricks SJ.
CINI registered as a society.
Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre opened.
Relief measures undertaken in cyclone-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh.

1978 - 1983

 
Projects on Mother and Child Health initiated in Moyna (Midnapur) and Baikunthapur (South 24 Parganas).
Sishu Kalyan Sahayika and child sponsorship training programmes started.  
Relief provided to refugees in Kampuchea, Cambodia.
Training of Anganwadi workers started. School welfare programme initiated.
Research undertaken in collaboration with Nutrition Foundation of India on women and child health
Relief provided to cyclone-affected people of Sunderbans

 

1984 - 1989

CINI received the National Award in 1985 for outstanding work in child welfare.
Awareness programmes on the girl child initiated

Adopt a Mother” programme initiated with support from Amici di CINI, Italy.
Relief work for victims of communal violence of 1993 in Tangra, Kolkata.
CINI recognised by International Centre for Development of Culture of People, Genoa, Italy, for outstanding contribution in mother and child care.
CINI received Feinstein Hunger Award from Boston University, USA
Regional Centre for Training and Counselling on AIDS set up with support from National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO)
Selected as Collaborative Training Institute for North East states by National Institute of Health and Family Welfare
Adolescent Resource Centre (ARC) set up
CINI was recognised as Regional Resource Centre (RRC) by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for Eastern Region.

First International course “Evaluation of Behaviour Change Programmes in the context of Emerging Reproductive and Sexual Health issues” organised in collaboration with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Relief work for tsunami victims in Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Sri Lanka .
Relief work for earthquake victims in Kashmir.
CINI given National Award for work in Child Welfare for the year 2004
CINI received Parliament prize for Infants (2005) from Italian Parliament Commission of Infants.
First time collaboration with Jadavpur University Kolkata for conducting 12-weeks programme in RCH.
Recognised as state nodal agency for rolling out Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) under NRHM in West Bengal.
Initiation of intervention for developing Child & Woman Friendly Communities approach
