Units And Divisions


The various divisions and units of CINI are not separate components in themselves but are bound together in a cohesive framework that works to achieve the mission.

 

Child and Women Friendly Communities (CWFC):

All the  activities under CINI  are gradually being implemented  by  the units through CWFC approach. The Program  Management Unit (PMU) is the central coordinating unit for CWFC that links the various implementation sites to each other as well as to the head office. PMU provides technical inputs through capacity building of key stakeholders and other staff involved in implementation along with developing community based monitoring tools and mechanism. CINI Bandhan :

In response to the increasing numbers of rural women suffering from recurrent sexually transmitted infections (STIs), a separate unit took shape in the form of ‘CINI Bandhan’, in 2003, a landmark in CINI’s pioneering work on community health. CINI Bandhan has been involved in various initiatives spanning the entire prevention to care and support spectrum of possible interventions. This includes minimising risk behaviour in order to contain the spread of HIV and to ensure better quality of life for people living with HIV & AIDS.Click here for contact details.

 

CINI Chetana - (Training Unit) :

The training unit of CINI was set up in 1975 in response to the institutional need for training and was registered as an independent body in 1989. CINI Chetana today specialises in different aspects of training such as training needs assessment, curriculum development, training package development, organising and facilitating training and evaluation of training programmes. The key programmes include Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) training for Anganwadi workers, helpers and supervisors, specialised training on Behaviour Change Communication for partner NGOs in West Bengal and other states of India, Training of Trainers (TOT) for internal teams as well as external partners, community-based trainings on RCH for different level of functionaries for Government and NGOs, training of students from various academic institutions like IGNOU, Calcutta University and Nursing Institutes (Government and Private). Child Health and Development Division:

The Division of Child Health & Development (DCHD) started functioning in May 2001 with the drive for efficient and independent functioning on issues of child health, nutrition and development. DCHD is primarily responsible for implementing programmes and generating evidence related to child development, aimed at influencing the policies at the state, regional and national levels. CINI YUVA:

This unit was formerly known as Adolescent Resource Centre(ARC), which is renamed as CINI YUVA in 2008.Through youth participation and community mobilisation, CINI ARC envisages fostering an environment where Young People's (10-24 years) Reproductive and Sexual Health (YRSH)  is realized. It is the first of its kind in eastern India.  The division implements various projects through CINI Diamond Harbour and CINI Jharkhand Units. Women Health Division:

Several years of field experiences and learning helped CINI to realize the need for creating a specialized division to address health issues concerning women. Keeping this in mind, Women’s Health Division (WHD) was formed as technical body that helps to enhance institutional learning regarding reproductive and sexual health related issues and interventions among women. CINI ASHA(Urban Unit):

The urban unit of CINI, was initiated in 1989, in response to the needs of the deprived urban children, expanding its work from Kolkata to the urban districts of West Bengal, like Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas, Siliguri and neighbouring states. It aims at improving the quality of life of the urban, disadvantaged population and protect the rights of the child through education, health and social mobilisation.Click here for contact details.

 
CINI Diamond Harbour Unit :

CINI Diamond Harbour Unit was established on November 30, 1997 and it has been working in the domains of health and nutrition, education and protection in Diamond Harbour Sub-Division, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India. The Unit’s initiatives are driven by a partnership approach where local self-government bodies (Panchayat Raj Institutions or PRIs take the lead in planning, implementing and monitoring community development programmes. CINI Jharkhand

CINI set up a unit in Jharkhand in 2002 with the objective of supporting local NGOs and Government functionaries through capacity building and technical inputs.The unit draws support from all other CINI divisions and together with them implements initiatives in health and nutrition, HIV & AIDS and educational projects. The unit reaches out to pregnant women and lactating mothers, newborns up to 1 year of age, Adolescents, HIV/AIDS (High Risk Groups, People Living with HIV/AIDS and affected families) & urban deprived children. CINI Murshidabad :

CINI started working in Murshidabad district from 1999 as a facilitating agency to eliminate malnutrition in collaboration with UNICEF and the District Authorities. Over the years the unit has been engaged in intensive community development programmes including capacity building of self help group members on maternal and child health care, community mobilisation on Pulse Polio, comprehensive community-based disaster preparedness planning and HIV & AIDS related intervention targeting youth and women. The unit has also been engaged in community-based micro-planning initiative in collaboration with the Department of Panchayat & Rural Development, Government of West Bengal, India. CINI North Bengal :

Since 2002, CINI North Bengal’s focus has been primarily on providing education cum protection, health and nutrition to women and children living in urban slums of Siliguri. However, while assessing factors of unsafe migration and trafficking in a commercial hub like Siliguri, gateway to both national and international borders, the unit soon realised the need to develop  interventions through a  multi-pronged strategy, both in rural and urban areas.Click here for contact details.

 
CINI Chattishgarh Unit:

CINI set up a unit in Chattishgarh in 2006 with the objective of supporting Government functionaries thru capacity building, IEC materials, mobility support, community and social mobilization, and technical inputs for VAS and Zinc program. CINI International Unit (India):

CINI International Unit in India maintains regular contact with all the Friends of  CINI around the world, facilitates international visitors to CINI, maintains database for sponsorship programmes. It specifically addresses day-to-day activities relating to sponsorship administration, particularly related to Adopt a Mother and Save her Child (AAMSC) and Educate a Child (EAC). CINI Resource Centre (CRC) :

Conceived in July 2003 as an information hub of institutional learning and experiences, the cell today has evolved to serve information and communication needs not just internally but externally as well. It has a vast pool of resource materials catering to different target groups. It is responsible for developing standardized institutional publications. It also provides strategic communication support to programmes through a range of inputs including needs assessment, strategic planning as well participatory resource development. CINI Fund Raising Unit :

Fund Raising unit started its journey from 2000. It is mainly involved in raising of funds through mobilizing support from school, individuals, corporate, trusts and foundation. It is also responsible for coordinating all the promotional events and campaigns for generating funds for sustaining CINI’s efforts to support the vulnerable.
