    ABOUT CINI

Child In Need Institute (CINI), a  leading Non Government Organization (NGO)  with its head office in Kolkata (Calcutta), India was founded in 1974.

CINI  has been working over the last three decades to achieve sustainable development in nutrition, health, education and protection among poor communities. Natural and man made disasters are commonly seen in India and receive prompt response from the disaster relief team at CINI during such emergencies.

Child Women Friendly Community (CWFC) is the main approach through which the activities of nutrition, health , education and protection are integrated in CINI project areas. This approach has been adopted and piloted in various locations based on CINI's learning that vertical programs are never sustainable and needs to be integrated at the community level with active participation of the community, elective representatives of the people and the service providers such as doctors, nurses, teachers, etc. Through this approach CINI is gradually changing its role from a service provider to a facilitator.
