Overall objectives: Woman and child health has been a focus of CINI’s work from its inception. Since 2011, interventions in this area have been managed through a Woman and Child Health Division to provide technical support and promote replicable, cost-effective and sustainable strategies in the spheres of woman and child health, nutrition and development. Our work adopts a life-cycle approach and fosters innovative methodologies, such as positive deviance models in early childhood development and the management of a Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre.

On the basis of our innovations, we have been able to influence the Government of West Bengal to adopt the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre model in its health system. Our Division, first started five government-funded Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres in as many districts of the state. The success of the experimentation has led the Government of West Bengal to adopt the model in other districts as well.
